Global pop icon Beyoncé launches haircare brand Cécred
Global superstar Beyoncé has launched a haircare brand named after her. Announcing the brand’s anticipated launch on Instagram earlier this month, Beyoncé got fans excited by revealing only the date and brand name, but nothing else. There was no word on the details of the products or where to find them, but the fans discovered a trademark application for the brand name pending before the USPTO and speculated on the product details based on that information.
It seems the haircare brand has been in development for years. Since 2021, she has mentioned the importance of hair care in numerous public appearances and has shown her affection for the hair care. Most importantly, in May of last year, Beyoncé posted a video on Instagram sharing her childhood memories of the salon her mother used to run and a throwback video of the premise. She shared her thoughts on the positive energy and the transformation she went through, and concluded by saying that her dream is to carry on her mother’s special legacy.
On February 20, Beyoncé’s hair brand, Cécred, was finally unveiled, as announced. Cécred is said to be a combination of the last part of Beyoncé’s name, Cé, and the pronunciation of the word “Sacred.” It brings the message that “hair is sacred,” which reflects her past statements about the importance of hair and what it should mean.
The website is designed in subdued, toned-down browns and beiges that don’t bring up glamorous images of Beyoncé much. The product containers are uniformly light gray, beige, or transparent across the entire product line, and the bottle design is reminiscent of temple pillars. The product description details the ingredients and assures you that they are free of harmful chemicals, and it’s easy to follow the steps on how to use the product. It also lists images of the ingredients included in the products to build consumer trust. In the ‘Science’ section, it explains and highlights the scientific restorative properties of their patent-pending ingredient made with bioactive keratin, honey, and lactobacillus ferment. A quiz section will grab your attention, where you can answer a few questions about your hair, and it will recommend products from Cécred that it thinks might work for you. A section of the website specifically outlines how Beyoncé would be giving back through the business, including her plan to fund beauty school scholarships and salon business grants.
Beyoncé isn’t the only celebrity to enter the hair product market, and there are plenty of products that are already widely available and well-established. However, it is notable that Beyoncé’s Cécred attempts to prove its value by focusing on the user’s experience and transformation and differentiates itself from other hair products by emphasizing the product’s safety and patent-pending technology. Beyoncé’s hairstyling, haircare routines, color, and more have cast a lot of influence on her fans, so we’re excited to see what her long-awaited haircare brand will bring to the table.
