2023 BET Awards
Black Entertainment Television, or BET, is one of the channels providing news and entertainment primarily for African American viewers. Historically and culturally, it has received wide support from African American audiences and has been sponsoring the BET Awards for artists since 2001.
The 23rd BET Awards was hosted at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California, and honored entertainment artists in music, sports, television, and movies.
One of this year’s biggest trends at the BET Awards was dresses made with see-through fabric. Many stars including Ice Spice, Latto, and Coco Jones showed off their see-through dresses and caught many people’s eyes.
The BET Awards Pink Carpet garnered substantial interest from the media who follow Black Hollywood stars’ fashion. Lately, many fashion leaders and artists who used to lead the trend have largely disappeared from the public, and people looked for the next top trend setters.
Most stars attended this year’s BET Awards in simple hairdos and fashion, but a few showed off glam styles that was note-worthy. From hair accessories to Nubian locs and wave, artists completed an ensemble with perky hairstyles. Let’s take a look at the artists who received the most highlights.
BET Awards Winners
Considered the biggest honor among the BET Awards, the Lifetime Achievement Award went to Busta Rhymes in 2023. 12-time Grammy nominated rapper and producer Rhymes has been one of the pioneers in hiphop and produced 7 Top 10 songs in the Billboard Hot 100 as an MC. Busta Rhymes accepted the award with a stage performance that expressed the artistic talents and excellence of the Black artist.
For the International Act, Burna Boy who went viral on social media for years stood on the podium above many big names in the field. From Nigeria, he is a Millennial artist who gained the stardom on social media and now performing across the U.S. and also globally.
In addition, the Album of the Year went to Beyonce’s Renaissance and SZA’s SOS, and SZA’s Kill Bill received the honor of the Video of the Year.
